Why Penélope Cruz Was Destined to Play Donatella Versace

It was recently announced that Penélope Cruz will play Donatella Versace in the upcoming season of American Crime Story centered on the tragic death of Gianni Versace. Despite initial reports that Lady Gaga would play the late designer's beloved sister, this new casting announcement actually makes a lot of sense.

Why exactly? For over a decade now, Penélope has shown her love for the iconic Italian fashion brand at numerous red carpet appearances. She's worn Versace to the Academy Awards several times and was even wearing a gown from the brand to the Vanity Fair afterparty the year she won an award for Best Supporting Actress. Ahead, check out some of Penélope's many red carpet Versace looks.

Show Your Stripes With J.Crew’s Exclusive Collection For Net-a-Porter

J.Crew's creative director Jenna Lyons has a sense of style that is undoubtedly her own - one that is overtly reflected in her designs for the beloved retailer. Now, J.Crew has teamed up with Net-a-Porter for an exclusive 25-piece collection that is, well, about as Jenna Lyons as it gets.

The fitting collaboration features separates, accessories, and sneakers all inspired by the iconic Breton stripe. The abbreviated history of the Breton stripe goes as such: it was used in 1858 as the official uniform for men in the French navy until it was adopted by Coco Chanel in 1917 for a nautical collection. Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, and Jean Paul Gaultier would later go on to popularize it.

Thus, J.Crew's designs have taken those iconic stripes and reimagined them in interested, yet totally wearable ways. Look ahead for pictures of the collection, available to shop online Sept. 13.
