There’s No Doubt That Girls Run the World For Zimmermann’s Fall ’17
The Zimmermann woman may borrow from the boys, but she makes it her own for Fall '17. Rife with bold suiting and the brand's trademark frills and armed with thigh-high boots, these looks could confidently take on anything - and they're meant for the woman who does.
The collection, "The Maples," is named for a building that housed students on the Women's College campus at Sydney University following WWI. In the old photos of the young women on the school grounds, designer Nicky Zimmermann found her inspiration: "the optimism . . . freedom, the feeling of possibility." In this lineup, all three are apparent. It's certainly self-assured; everything from the blazers (reimagined from cricket players' vests) to the frills, ruffles, and fringe command attention when they hit the runway - or when a woman enters a room. The varied pieces present endless possibility. Layering romantic dresses over pants, soft, feminine fabrics paired with heavy leather outerwear and slim, striped suiting present a wardrobe of options, the freedom of choice. For the woman who wants it all, she can have it here.
